Consent

What teachers confirm

When a teacher registers a school, asks to join one, or accepts a colleague's invitation, they confirm that they:

  1. Have authority to register students from their school for this event.
  2. Will get parent or guardian consent for each participant under 18, using the school's process. A sample form is below.
  3. Understand that the data is used only to run the competition: registration, scoring, leaderboards, contacting finalists, and certificates.
  4. Have read the privacy notice and the rules.

The platform stores who confirmed and when. This doesn't replace the school's duty to collect parent signatures.

What students confirm

A student who registers with a school code confirms that a parent or guardian has agreed. The platform stores the time they confirmed. The school's consent process still applies, and teachers can remove a student from their list.

Sample parent or guardian consent form

Schools may adapt this and print it on their own letterhead.

I, ________________________, parent or guardian of ________________________ (student's name),
Year ________, School ________________________,

agree that my child may:

  1. Register and take part in the online remote typing qualifier on the KeyStroke platform.
  2. Have their results (name or masked name, school, state, band, net WPM, accuracy) used for leaderboards and selecting finalists.
  3. Be contacted through the school or the registered email about results and logistics.
  4. If selected as a finalist, be invited to a physical final at a mall or hall. I understand that travel, accommodation and meals for the final are generally our family's responsibility, unless a sponsor announces otherwise.
  5. Appear in photos or videos during the event.

I understand that taking part is voluntary and follows the published rules.
